Bill To Regulate School Fees
...

In response to criticism of "arbitrary" increases in school fees, the Delhi cabinet approved a law regulating them on Wednesday.
At a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi School Education Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees 2025 Bill was adopted.
In reference to the Delhi School Education Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees 2025 Bill, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta informed the media, "I am ecstatic to inform you that the Delhi government has taken a daring and historic step, and the draft Bill has been passed by the Cabinet today."

"All 1,677 schools in Delhi, whether aided, non-aided, or private, will have their whole fee policy and procedure set. The administration is drafting such a bill for the first time in history," she continued.

She claimed that the topic of "arbitrary" school price increases had been addressed extensively in recent days and that parents were experiencing "panic" as a result of certain schools' actions and concerns about "harassment" of pupils in the name of tuition increases. "No measures were taken by Delhi's prior administrations to stop fee increases. She claimed that the government lacked guidelines to stop private schools from raising tuition.

Three committees will be established to carry out the new regulations, according to Education Minister Ashish Sood, who attended the news conference as well. According to him, the panels would determine three-year prices based on the infrastructure of the institution.

According to Mr. Sood, parents and school teachers will also participate in the decision-making process. "The process will involve five parents and three teachers. These members will choose the charge for the next three years after being chosen by drawing.

A 10-member district-level committee will be established, the minister added. Two women and one person from the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe categories will be included.

Parents and guardians have long complained about the "irregular and exorbitant" fee increases that private unaided schools in the nation's capital have been making. Additionally, the parents have accused the schools of coercive measures, such as refusing them admit cards for board exams and threatening to have their children's names removed for failing to pay what they claim are unapproved fees. Additionally, they claimed that if the fee payment was not made on time, kids would be subjected to mental abuse at school.
