The University of Western Australia (UWA), a prestigious university renowned for its academic brilliance, has formally contacted the University Grants Commission (UGC) with a request to construct branch campuses across India in a move that is expected to change the future of global education in India.

If permits are given, Mumbai, a city already teeming with academic aspirations, will serve as the main operational hub.

Founded in 1911 and regarded among the top 100 institutions worldwide, UWA is poised to become the first of Australia's prestigious Group of Eight universities to establish a physical presence in India.
Its arrival was commemorated today at the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) at the Jio World Centre, where the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and UWA Chancellor Diane Smith-Gander held high-level private discussions.

The university plans to provide a wide range of academic programs in Science, Technology, Business, and the Creative Arts since it has long appreciated India's emerging role as a center of innovation.
It is anticipated that the offers will also include the UWA Conservatorium of Music, which is well-known around the world.
More campuses in Tamil Nadu are planned, subject to approval by the UGC and the Senate that governs UWA.

The initiative supports the objectives of India's National Education Policy 2020, according to Chancellor Smith-Gander, who also emphasized UWA's current connections with India through business and agricultural partnerships.

Given that higher education in India is predicted to grow by 60% over the next ten years, UWA's presence is anticipated to support expanding student goals and promote international academic interchange.
Flexible options will be available to students, including the ability to transfer between campuses in Perth and India.
