On-screen marking for CBSE Class 12 exams 2026

According to officials, from this year, on-screen marking of Class 12 answer books will be introduced by the CBSE. They said, "Physical evaluation of class 10 answer books will continue."
"The decision to implement On-Screen Marking (OSM) for assessing class 12 answer booklets from the 2026 exams onward has been made by the board in its continuous effort to improve efficiency and transparency. In 2026, the physical assessment of Class 10 answer booklets will resume, as announced by CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj."
The official noted that aside from deleting totaling errors, the move will facilitate coordination and reduce intervention.
Besides being eco-friendly, this choice of digital marking will ensure that results are processed faster and instructors will be more involved. The teacher is also given the option of choosing to remain in school while doing their work.
"The requirement of manpower for the verification process will be reduced, and it will not be needed to do post-results verification of the marks. All schools will have a chance to participate in this evaluation, which will ensure the involvement of educators from all associated schools across the world," he said.
It has been requested that the school ensures computer labs with specific system requirements, a dependable internet connection, and a constant source of power are available to be assessed.
"Schools have been requested through an online portal to update information on the teachers who instruct these programs. If not done, the results of the school will not be announced, which they claimed amounts to an attempt to influence the outcome of the evaluation process," Bhardwaj said.
