NIOS private applicants are eligible for NEET UG 2025

In a recent circular, the National Medical Commission (NMC) made it clear that students enrolled in State Open Schools and National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are qualified to take the National Eligibility Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG 2025). This comes after candidates submitted a request for information (RTI) about the NEET eligibility requirements for students attending open-learning schools.
"As per GMER-23 Regulations on studying through NIOS is allowed for appearing for NEET UG Examinations," NMC responded to the RTI question. With the requirement that the study be conducted at any approved institution, students are allowed to take one additional course from NIOS.
Sukh Lal Meena, the director of the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), issued and signed the circular.
The NEET 2025 exam will be administered by NTA sometime in the middle of the following year. If everything goes as per schedule, the exam will be conducted in the first week of May 2025.
