CBSE instructs schools to provide JEE Main aspirants with their Class 11 registration numbers
...

All connected institutions have been instructed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to provide Class 11 registration numbers to pupils who are applying for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026.
In a circular, CBSE stated that a number of students and parents have reported that schools were refusing to provide the registration numbers needed to finish the JEE Main application process, in spite of earlier recommendations published on October 30.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which administers the JEE Main exam, has mandated that candidates provide their Class 11 registration number in the online application form, according to the Board.

This number facilitates easier communication between exam authorities and schools and aids in the verification of candidates' academic information.

In response to the concerns, CBSE made it clear that institutions "must invariably provide the Class 11 registration number to students appearing for the JEE Exam 2026."

In order to prevent any disruption to kids, Joint Secretary (Coordination) Agarwal signed the directive, which ordered all principals and heads of schools to comply with it right away.
