CBSE opens correction window for schools to update student details

A new announcement from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) permits connected schools to update the information of their registered students. The goal of this phase is to guarantee that students' mark sheets and outcomes are accurate. The window for corrections will be open from April 9, 2025, until April 17, 2025.
According to the announcement, each correction will incur a processing charge of Rs 1,000 per candidate. The schools are required to pay this sum to the appropriate regional CBSE office.
What corrections can be done ?
During this time for corrections, schools can implement the following changes:
- Interchange of mother’s and father’s names
- Photo correction
- Date of birth updates (as per CBSE rules and valid documents)
- Changes in the “Single Child” status
- Gender correction
- Minor changes in the spelling of mother/father's names
Changes in categorization, such going from General to OBC, won't be allowed, though.
According to CBSE, this facility was implemented after several schools supplied inaccurate data in spite of earlier directives to verify information twice before submitting. This remedial window resulted from numerous institutions later approaching the board to request corrections.
Additionally, the board emphasized that after April 17, 2025, no rectification requests will be considered. Official results and student mark sheets will be created using the final data that schools submit.
CBSE encouraged all schools to thoroughly verify that student details, including the name spellings and date of birth, match official school records such as the Admission and Withdrawal Register.
